THE STORY OF
How JR Social Media Marketing Began
I didn’t plan to become a social media manager — but life has a way of opening new doors at just the right time.
After 21 years as a special education teacher, I realized I still loved helping others succeed, but I wanted to create something of my own — something that allowed me to serve others while also giving me more freedom to travel with my husband on business, visit my kids more often, and design a career that fit my life.
I started taking online courses, learning everything I could about social media marketing, and quickly realized how much of my existing skill set naturally transferred into this world — creativity, communication, organization, problem-solving, and building relationships.
The real turning point came when my daughter Joelle, who was getting ready to graduate college with a degree in communications and start her career in PR, said:
"Mom, you’ve got this. This is what I do — and I can help you launch."
And just like that — JR Social Media Marketing (Joelle + Rachel) was born.

I’m Rachel Castor — wife, mom of two (ages 25 and 22), lifelong teacher, and now small business social media manager.
After 21 years as a special education teacher, I bring the same passion for helping others succeed into my work with small business owners. My teaching experience has equipped me with the creativity, organization, leadership, and communication skills necessary to develop personalized social media strategies for my clients.
In my spare time, I enjoy taking walks, playing pickleball, learning mahjong, and spending as much time as possible traveling and visiting my kids.
